Lead Maynard House Into Its Next Chapter
Maynard House is seeking a compassionate, strategic, and community-minded Executive Director to lead our organization into its next chapter.
For more than 45 years, Maynard House has provided a welcoming, affordable home away from home for patients and families traveling to the Upper Valley for medical care. What began as the Upper Valley Hostel in 1978 has grown into a beloved community resource serving thousands of guests over the years. Today, our eight-room guesthouse in Hanover offers patients, caregivers, and families a comfortable place to stay close to the care they need.
Our mission is simple but powerful: to ease the financial and emotional burden of traveling for medical care by providing affordable, supportive lodging when families need it most.
An Opportunity to Make a Meaningful Difference
Maynard House is at an exciting point in its history. We have a strong foundation, a dedicated Board and staff, committed volunteers, generous donors, and deep connections throughout the Upper Valley. We also have an opportunity to strengthen our organization, expand our reach, and build a more sustainable future.
We are looking for an Executive Director who can lead with both heart and vision—someone who understands that the strength of a small nonprofit comes from its people and relationships.
Our next Executive Director will be an important ambassador for Maynard House and will help shape its future. A key priority will be strengthening fundraising and donor relationships. More than 70% of our operating support comes from individuals, corporations, foundations, and community partners, making the Executive Director's role in cultivating relationships and building sustainable revenue especially important.
We are seeking a leader who can:
-
Build meaningful relationships with donors, foundations, healthcare partners, volunteers, and community members
-
Develop and implement a thoughtful fundraising and development strategy
-
Identify opportunities to increase contributed revenue and diversify funding
-
Serve as a compelling ambassador for the Maynard House mission
-
Work collaboratively with the Board to establish priorities and achieve strategic goals
-
Support and inspire a small, dedicated staff and volunteer community
-
Oversee the organization's day-to-day operations while keeping an eye on long-term growth and sustainability
-
Bring creativity, energy, compassion, and sound nonprofit leadership to the organization
Why Maynard House?
This is a chance to lead a small organization where your work is visible and your impact is immediate.
At Maynard House, you won't be one person among hundreds of employees. You will have the opportunity to know our guests, work directly with volunteers and donors, collaborate closely with the Board, and see firsthand how your leadership helps families navigate difficult medical journeys.
We are looking for someone who sees the possibilities ahead—not just someone who can manage what exists today.
If you are a relationship-builder, a thoughtful fundraiser, and a compassionate leader who is excited by the opportunity to help a small nonprofit grow stronger and reach its next level, we would love to hear from you.
